The registered legal name exists only in Indonesian and is not translated. An unofficial English rendering — Foundation for Water and Risk Systems Engineering — may be used for explanatory purposes only and has no legal effect.
We publish methods, plan monitoring, handle data carefully and build early research tools to show how water conditions become risks. Machine learning, artificial intelligence and sensors are used only when they fit how water actually behaves. They are methods, not the name of the institution.
Statutory purpose
The foundation was established for social and humanitarian purposes. Registered activities include research in the natural sciences and in engineering and technology, education, environmental conservation, and help for people affected by natural disasters. Reksar Lab is how that purpose is carried out for water and the environment.

What we do
- Publish technical notes and research briefs, and convene public discussion, based on open data.
- Develop and release open methods and tools.
- Collaborate on academic and non-commercial terms with universities, research institutions, civil society and government agencies.
- Deploy monitoring prototypes for research purposes under appropriate permissions.
- Prepare general notes, based on evidence, that can inform policy.
What we do not do
- Offer commercial consulting services or participate in procurement processes.
- Accept paid projects from industry clients.
- Use data, cases or project context from the primary employment of any contributor.
- Present an employer’s project experience as Reksar Lab output or track record.
- Issue operational flood, drought or contamination warnings to the public.
Reksar Lab is not an early warning institution. Authority to issue operational warnings rests with the designated agencies. Monitoring and modelling outputs are research outputs and are not intended as a basis for emergency action.
Yayasan Rekayasa Sistem Air dan Risiko is governed through three organs — Pembina (board of trustees), Pengurus (management board) and Pengawas (supervisory board) — in accordance with the Indonesian Law on Foundations. Scientific lead designations on the research programme are separate from those legal offices.
